5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium iodide) is a small-molecule selective inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), the enzyme responsible for methylation of nicotinamide using S-adenosyl-L-methionine. It is studied as a research tool for investigating cellular NAD+ and methyl-donor balance, adipocyte energy metabolism, sirtuin pathway activity, and metabolic regulation in in vitro and in vivo laboratory models.
