Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of the adrenocorticotropic hormone fragment ACTH(4-10), with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. Originally developed in Russia, it is investigated as a research tool for studying neurotrophic signaling, BDNF and NGF modulation, melanocortin receptor activity, and central nervous system response to ischemia and oxidative stress.
